What?
An exhibition of posters whose author is NOT Kuba Sowiński. The works on display were created between 2017 and 2026 for the Poster Museum in Warsaw, the Krakow Film Festival, and the Nówka Sztuka art fair in Kraków.
The exhibition presents posters, placards and graphic works that show how authorship and originality can be understood in contemporary design today. The selected works explore different forms of inspiration, originality and collaboration within the creative process. These questions are especially relevant in the time of the artificial intelligence revolution.
Statement by the non-author: “In illustration and poster design, having your own recognisable style is often highly valued. Unfortunately, I have never developed one. This can be difficult — starting from the beginning every time — but it also creates a chance to get lost in interesting places.
In this exhibition, I would like to show several projects in which I almost completely give up my own expression. Instead, I use the works of other artists — sometimes brutally — as material for visual identities. In these cases, I take the role of a director who does not know what the final result will be and who does not take full responsibility for it. By combining, remixing and quoting, I ask myself about the limits of inspiration, collaboration and creative autonomy. In my first ‘solo’ exhibition, you will actually see the work of several dozen people.”
